Latin American and Caribbean Studies Research

Led by Dr. Lillian Manzor, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies initiative helps to connect and catalyze the exemplary research of faculty and graduate students working in the region or on hemispheric aspects of Miami, so that they and the university broadly benefit from the energizing potential of collaborative university communities of research. The specific programs overseen by the lead include the institute's seed and field research grants for faculty and graduate students, the UMIA/LAS Distinguished Fellows Program, and data collection and ideation for institution-building programs and grant applications.
As Faculty Director, Dr. Manzor also offers advice on strategic matters to the institute's director, Dr. Felicia Marie Knaul.
