The new US administration has opened an era of uncertainty in the future directions of US foreign policy, as well as relations with the European Union. Even if the EU continues to engage with its major partner, a clear sense of anxiety is perceived in EU capitals. What will be the effects of this uncertainty on the Western Hemisphere? Some countries area awaiting answers: Mexico certainly, but also Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti and the Mercosur grouping. Is this an opportunity for the EU to reinforce its presence in the region?
